Peugeot 3008 Crossover Officially Revealed (details and photos)

Peugeot has released the first official photos and details of the all-new 3008 compact crossover. The five-seater 3008 is more of a pug than a stud – at slightest in what concerns its exterior styling.

Peugeot officials said that it is positioned “at the crossroads between numerous free vehicles like the SUV, the MPV and track.” Something like an automotive varied grille in other language. The 3008′s most next rival seems to be the Nissan Qashqai cross, which has proven pretty successful in Europe.

Inside, the Pug skin a very nicely styled dash that looks suspiciously akin in goal with the Audi R8. As you’d demand from a French crossover, the 3008′s cubicle is honestly versatile and it includes an array of storage places with an entire valuable amount of nearly 50 liters. The encumber region (512lt under the packet ledge) is accessible through a tear tailgate that divides into two parts. Notably, it can be compartmentalized gratitude to a stagger with a 3-way height adjustment.

Europeans will be able to take among seven different powetrain options. For 2009, these involve: a 110HP 1.6-liter diesel with a 6-momentum physical gearbox or an electronically-controlled handbook gearbox; a 150HP 2.0-liter diesel with a 6-haste handbook gearbox; a 163HP 2.0-liter diesel mated to a 6-tempo sure transmission; a 120HP 1.6-liter gasoline engine hooked up to a 5-haste guidebook gearbox and a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol thing with 150 or 156HP that’s mated to a 6-rush physical gearbox.

Sharing its platform with the Peugeot 308 C-segment tailgate, the 3008 crossover will primarily be unfilled exclusively with front-circle ambition. Peugeot does however deal a faux off-path embalm called “Grip Control” that consists of 16-inch M+S (Mud & Snow) tires and intelligent footing oppress. According to the French automakers own words, this container “gives the vehicle a genuine ability to overcome testing situations where the wheels have little grip.”

Those sharp for an all-sweep oblige account will have to linger awaiting the presentation of the Peugeot-Citroen PSA Group’s first pattern to be equipped with HYbrid4 technology. To be launched by 2011 the latest, the 3008 HYbrid4 will cartel a traditional engine that powers the front-wheels with a thrilling motor located under the burden quarter stagger near the hinge that drives the rear wheels.

Peugeot said that this technology will not only add all-wheel maneuver capabilities to the archetype, but it will also slash fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by around 35%. At the Paris Motor Show, the Prologue HYbrid4 belief car was unfilled with a 2.0 litre HDi FAP engine with an intensity of 163HP and an electric motor with a most space of 27 kW (37HP) for a total nation of 200HP and a limit torque of 300 Nm at the front and 200 Nm at the rear. The fuel consumption of this example in the united rotation was estimated at being only 4.1 liters/100 km (57.4mpg U.S.), with CO2 emissions of just 109 g/km.

Peugeot Hoggar reminds us of the Proton Arena!

Remember Proton’s Wira based Arena “pick-up truck”? I still see some pasar malam traders putting the Arena to good use and it has carved out a niche for itself in Australia, where it’s called Jumbuck. Here’s one car with a similar concept from Peugeot, and it’s called the Hoggar.

The Hoggar is made for the South American market, and is based on the domestic 207. However, the 207 in question is not the same car that competes in Europe’s supermini class, but a 206 with a changed cabin and redesigned to look like the “big mouthed” 207. The Hoggar has a payload of about 742 kg.

Peugeot’s small pick-up will be launched in Brazil in May and will come with two engine options: a 1.4-litre and a 1.6-litre, both with flex-fuel technology. Flex-fuel cars can run on gasoline, ethanol or a mixture of the two. In Brazil, ethanol made mostly from sugar cane makes up 25% of the E25 fuel that’s sold in pumps. By the way, what happened to Malaysia’s biodiesel plans? Anybody in the know?

Peugeot 207 S16 celebrates IRC domination

Peugeot has dominated the Intercontinental Rally Challenge for the past three years with its 207 S2000 rally car, and most recently British driver Kris Meeke wrapped up the 2009 season in style, taking for himself the 2009 IRC drivers’ title. To commemorate the victory (and to sell more cars) Peugeot UK has created the Special Edition 207 S16, which is limited to 250 examples.

Based on the three-door 207 Sport 1.6 VTi, the S16 adds on full 207 RC Cup bodykit comprising front and rear spoilers, side skirts and a “pseudo rear diffuser”, 17″ Hockenheim alloys, SP Sports mesh grille, dark tinted rear windows from the 207 GTi, a special interior badge signed by Kris Meeke and of course – vinyl rally graphics which mimic Meeke’s IRC winning 207 S2000. The decals blends elements from the Union Jack and Peugeot’s lion; thankfully they did not cover the bonnet with the flag as well, as the race car does. Not all will like it, so they can have their S16 in pure Bianca White.

Top speed of 200 km/h and 0-100 km/h in 10.7 seconds isn’t really SS winning speed but hey, at least you’ll feel like a champ behind the wheel!

This is the Peugeot 4007, based on the Mitsubishi Outlander. Peugeot and Mitsubishi will be collaborating together on off-road vehicles as Mitsubishi has a pretty good track record with the Pajero/Shogun and the Outlander.

Peugeot 408

Peugeot 408 Peugeot was doing great launching beautifully design cars which accentuates French Sexiness until this came along. It seems the designers have taken the wide & large grille thing way to far and damn the next generation 408's front fascia to look like a sucker fish. The rear has hints of the Astra too.The headlamp looks sharp & fine but the front bumper has Kia Optima/Lotze influence in it. According to Autoexpress the radical design of the 408 was meant to rival that of Mondeo's & Insignia. They added that sportiness is the theme for this generation.

Peugeot 408

Peugeot 408 rom what we can see the 408 looks production ready, begging the possibility of a Geneva Motor Show debut in March. On the other hand it would be a surprise to see an all-new model since the 407 just received a minor facelift in 2008. Regardless, the current 407 range has an assortment of engines ranging from a 114hp (85kW) 1.8-litre petrol to 1.6 HDi turbo diesels to the 2.7 HDi V6 making 201hp (150kW) and a sweet 440Nm of torque.

Peugeot 408

Peugeot 408 n a package that seems to be inspired by upmarket models such as Audi’s A5, the new 408 also shows how a fresh emphasis on sporty design will shape future Peugeot models. The 408, which comes hot on the heels of the RCZ Coupe, borrows inspiration from the recent 908 RC Concept. The car also has a wedge-like profile and a neat rear wing. Inside, you’ll be awestruck at the big step forward in quality and technology. The head-up display seen on the new 3008 is set to be included. Under the skin is an all-new chassis, based on that which underpins Citroen’s latest C5. Hydropneumatic suspension and adaptive headlamps are also expected. The car is expected to be offered in a wide range of petrol and diesel engines. Due to appear in 2011 is a diesel-electric hybrid model that promises low emissions.

Peugeot 408 launched in China: 308-based sedan!

The Peugeot 408 notchback sedan made its world debut in China this week. No, it’s not a replacement for 407. The replacement for the 407 will move up a notch in the market since it intends to replace both the 407 and the 607. It will be called the Peugeot 508.

The new Peugeot 408 is actually a C-segment notchback sedan based on the C-segment Peugeot 308 platform, but with its wheelbase lengthened to give better interior room since it is a 4-door. Suspension settings have also been revised for the car’s new sedan weight and for a more comfort-biased setup. In China, its positioned against other C-segment sedans like the Civic and the Focus. And this time Peugeot seems to have gotten the ‘hatch to sedan’ conversion right – it looks a lot less awkward than the 206 Sedan.

The 408 measures 4,680mm long, 1,800mm long and 1,500mm wide. It has a wheelbase of 2,710mm which trumps the Civic’s throne as the longest wheelbase C-segment vehicle available right now (well not exactly – the Fluence wheelbase is said to be 2,702mm). It approaches CD-segment territory with that wheelbase length (the Pug 407’s wheelbase is 2,725mm)! This should mean pretty good interior room in theory.

The Chinese launch of the car introduces a two engine line-up – a 110hp 1.6 liter engine and a 147hp 2.0 liter engine. Different markets may get different engines. The 1.6 liter engine’s 110 horses is reached at 5,750rpm while peak torque of 147Nm is reached at 4,000rpm with 85% reached from just 2,000rpm. and 95% (140Nm) between 3,000rpm and 5,500rpm. That’s a good and wide torque spread. The 2.0 liter unit is equipped with continuously variable valve timing. It produces its peak power at 6,000rpm with peak torque of 200Nm reached at 4,000rpm.

The transmission options are either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic, which is the new AT8 Porsche Tiptronic system model. Not the same one as found in the 206 or the 308, which is the AL4. The AT8 uses a torque converter by ZF which improves gearbox output and reduces consumption by about 5%. The gearbox management can also lock the three higher gears to reduce torque converter slip during gentle driving. From my sources, these are not the only engine options available for the 408 so if it comes to Malaysia at all, there is still a question mark there. It would be nice if the same Prince engines in the 308 are offered.

Speaking of Malaysia – guess what, it’s under consideration to be launched in Malaysia as part of Peugeot’s plans for the ASEAN region that were revealed in a press conference this afternoon. It won’t necessarily carry the 408 nameplate though – that’s a marketing decision yet to be made. For now we can refer to it as the T73 sedan. Watch out for an update on that later this night.
